Where your water comes from

AWA Watersheds

The AWA Watershed system, comprised of seven (7) surface water drainage areas, is located in the Juniata River watershed of the Susquehanna River Basin (SRB). The AWA watershed system encompasses approximately 66 square miles covering portions of 11 municipalities in 4 counties.

These watersheds are the drainage basins for the most extensive water supply system (Reservoirs & Dams) in Pennsylvania. The AWA watersheds replenish twelve dams/reservoirs with a storage capacity of nearly 3 billion gallons combined.

The AWA watersheds are 96% forested, however, approximately 1600 residents live within the AWA watershed boundary.
