Effective with January 2018 billing, customers receiving water & sewer service from the Altoona Water Authority will notice a "Water Capital Surcharge" and/or a "Sewer Capital Surcharge" listed on their bill. This surcharge is designated for capital expenditures and is a flat monthly fee based upon the meter size.Read more

We are currently upgrading our meter / meter reading system. Phase 1 of this project, which involves the installation of a device that will allow readings to be transmitted daily, has been completed. We are currently working on phase 2 of this project which involves upgrading all meters to a new “smart” meter that will aid us in leak detection and water accountability.
